You can spice this to your liking, this recipe as is will not be very hot nor very spicy.\u00a0\u00a0<span id=\"more-155\"><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 cups of a good low sodium chicken stock or broth<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 cup of mushrooms, white, portobello or even canned<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 cup of<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lachoy.com\/products\/bamboo-shoots\">bamboo shoots<\/a>,<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> cut into strips<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1\/2 cup sliced<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lachoy.com\/products\/water-chestnuts-fancy-sliced\">water chestnuts<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 cup of<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasoya.com\/products\/tofu\/firm.html\">tofu<\/a>, cubed<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> (I like the firm style) (NOT frozen first)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I like adding 3-4 dates for sweetness.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 eggs or equivalent Eggbeaters or vegan egg substitute<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon dark soy sauce for color<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon regular soy sauce for flavor<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon hoisin sauce<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeofthai.com\/food\/chili_pastes\/chilipastebasil-5533300193.php\">chili oil <\/a>(<span style=\"color: #000000;\">or<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.target.com\/p\/huy-fong-chili-garlic-sauce-8oz\/-\/A-13473416\">chili garlic paste<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00bd cup cornstarch slurry (water mixed with 2 TBSP cornstarch)<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Few shakes of white pepper (the Chinese restaurants use white pepper for heat)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 tsp lemon juice (added AFTER heat is off)<br \/>\n2 tsp white vinegar (added AFTER heat is off)<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 tablespoon of<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\/ip\/Nakano-Seasoned-Rice-Vinegar-Seasoned-Vinegar-for-Sauteing-Baking-and-Marinades-12-fl-oz\/10309456\">rice vinegar<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\/ip\/Bragg-Organic-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-with-the-Mother-Raw-and-Unfiltered-16-fl-oz\/25516475\">apple cider vinegar<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(added AFTER heat is off)<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 teaspoon<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\/ip\/La-Tourangelle-Toasted-Sesame-Oil-16-9-fl-oz-500-ml\/53724971\">sesame oil<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(added AFTER heat is off)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>METHOD<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1)\u00a0 Put chicken stock in a pot. Bring stock to boil over high heat. Add mushrooms, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, chili oil\/ paste, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and pepper. Reduce fire to low heat, and simmer for 20 min.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2)\u00a0 Stir in cornstarch slurry until consistency is slightly thickened.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3)\u00a0 Break eggs in a bowl, briefly beat with serving fork then swirl eggs into the soup on medium heat. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">THE EGG DROP TECHNIQUE:<\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<div id=\"attachment_1963\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/egg-drop-soup-mine.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1963\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1963\" src=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/egg-drop-soup-mine-300x287.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/egg-drop-soup-mine-300x287.png 300w, http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/egg-drop-soup-mine.png 565w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1963\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><center><strong>Homemade egg drop soup<\/strong><\/center><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With one hand you&#8217;ll keep the soup swirling in a circle, with the other you&#8217;ll slowly drizzle the egg mixture in and you&#8217;ll see it begin to form egg-drop ribbons. Stir constantly until the ribbons form.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4)\u00a0 Add tofu and turn heat off. Stir in lemon juice, vinegars and sesame oil AFTER heat is off.
