You&#8217;d be surprised. The way I usually make okra is\u00a0<strong>CRISPY LOW FAT OVEN FRIED OKRA\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>where I take thawed out, cut frozen okra and dip it into beaten egg then into breadcrumbs and bake in a 400 degree oven 12-15 minutes in a metal pan sprayed with olive oil Pam. I spray the tops with more Pam so they&#8217;ll brown.\u00a0\u00a0This time I tried something different. Again, I had a 12 oz bag of frozen cut okra that I took out 6 oz of it to thaw. I made a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/okra-12-oz-bag.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1402\" src=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/okra-12-oz-bag-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">LOW FAT VEGETARIAN <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>OKRA PIE (think cheesy bread without the heavy crust)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">First, saute in olive oil one big chopped <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">onion<\/span> along with 2 chopped <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">celery<\/span> stalks, few chopped<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> garlic cloves<\/span> if you have them. Once they are golden they&#8217;ll add great flavor to this dish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Put the sauteed onions, celery and garlic into a large mixing bowl with the thawed <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">okra<\/span> along with 1\/2 tp each <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder<\/span> and 1\/4 tsp each crushed <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">fennel seed, basil, tarragon, curry powder<\/span> along with one beaten <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">egg<\/span>.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>At this point, if you are a cheese eater you could add up to 1 cup of shredded cheese.<br \/>\nFor a full fat version, you could add 2 tablespoons of olive oil or mayo, which would also add flavor.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Add panko and\/or regular Italian seasoned <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">bread crumbs<\/span> and mix until it becomes an almost doughy consistency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spray the bottom of a 9&#8243; round pan and squeeze the mixture very flat into the bottom of the pan. The flatter it is, the more crispy it will be. Into a preheated\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">425f oven for maybe 15-20 minutes. It will turn out very crispy on top and bottom and slightly soft in the center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cut into strips or pie slices and serve with your favorite hot sauce or dipping sauce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You could also make this recipe adding or substituting steamed <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">eggplant <span style=\"color: #000000;\">or<\/span> artichoke hearts<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">okra.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may like the following recipe also:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">LOW FAT VEGETARIAN OKRA BURGER<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_1402\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/okra-12-oz-bag.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1402\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1402\" src=\"http:\/\/goddessgrub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/okra-12-oz-bag-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1402\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><center>I buy the 12 oz bag<\/center><\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">First, you&#8217;ll mix the same ingredients as in my LOW FAT VEGETARIAN OKRA PIE above:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">First, saute in olive oil one big chopped<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> onion<\/span> along with 2 chopped <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">celery<\/span> stalks and a few chopped <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">garlic<\/span> cloves if you have them. Make palm sized burgers about 3\/4&#8243; thick. Place them onto the cookie sheet, sides not touching because we want them to get crisp on the sides also.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Into a preheated\u00a0425f oven for 12 &#8211; 15 minutes. They will turn out very crispy on top and bottom, soft and chewy in the center. Serve on<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> toasted buns<\/span> with a good <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">mustard<\/span> along with <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lettuce, tomato, onion <span style=\"color: #000000;\">and<\/span> pickle.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">It packs a great crunch\/tender texture for a veggie burger.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You could also make this recipe adding or substituting steamed<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> eggplant<\/span>\u00a0or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">artichoke hearts<\/span> for the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">okra<span style=\"color: #000000;\">. I especially like them made with eggplant.
